Juniper - Announces the launching of the World's Fastest Router

November 2010

Introducing the World's Fastest Router

On Monday the 15th November 2010, we are launched our next-generation T Series core router, the T4000, powered by the Junos® operating system. At 240 Gbps per slot, this is the world's fastest router, almost twice as fast as our nearest competitor's offering, and almost 100 times faster than the first router we shipped in 1998, the M40. This is a remarkable achievement, demonstrating tremendous innovation, focus, and dedication!

And we're not just announcing the technology. We are demonstrating it in action. We went live on Monday with the industry's first demonstration of a standards-based 100GE core-to-edge network, powered by the T4000 Core Router and the MX3D Series Universal Edge Router, running on the Junos® operating system. This demo is happening right now at Supercomputing 2010 in New Orleans.

100 Gigabit Ethernet Deployments

You have probably heard the media buzz over the past year about how our competitors were announcing 100GE capabilities and how this would change the Internet. Well, while everyone was waiting for those promised capabilities and theoretical changes, we have been delivering the real goods to our customers. Last week, Verizon announced the world's first 100GE deployment in a commercial network, leveraging our T Series core routers. A day later, Internet2 announced the deployment of the first 100GE national research network, also using the T Series.  These are true networking breakthroughs, made possible by Juniper.
