| Our Philosophy |
|
WestconSA firmly supports the principles and spirit of black economic empowerment and is proud to hold a level 3 BEE certification to show for our efforts. We embrace the spirit of Ubuntu and in true African tradition are committed to giving something back to the community in which we operate. Under the Westcon Cares project banner, WestconSA’ approximately 120 staff members personally drive charitable projects. Over the past two years over 400 people have benefited from this project. Staff members choose the beneficiaries, and personally arrange fund raising activities & events, with the support of the company and enthusiastic customers, vendor partners and family members. The Westcon Cares initiative embodies what we at Westcon SA and our partners stand for and is the C.S.I arm with which we ensure we maximize our contribution in society.
WestconSA' C.S.I vision is to not only inspire and activate positive change in the lives of our community, but to truly embrace the core of our existence as an IT distributor and thus add true tangible value to the lives of those we support.

| Coronation Training Centre Project |
Tumelo Home Project |
| This training centre serves a diverse array of disabled children, where its focus is on developing their capacity to function independently and to their fullest potential. Coronation Training Centre is situated in Newclare, Johannesburg and approximately 70% of the parents whose children are enrolled at the centre are unemployed. In light of this Westcon was able to raise money to supply the centre with equipment and financial support, through selling raffle tickets and soup, amongst other activities. |
Tumelo Home based in Ivory Park – Midrand, houses over 30 physically and mentally disabled children. It provides basic shelter, nourishment and healthcare to abandoned, abused children in the surrounding area. Westcon, through the X-Factor games, was able to raise over R20 000 worth of basic commodities and blankets. The WestconSA staff were able to spend a day at the facility interacting with the home’s staff and children. |

| Don Bosco Orphanage Project |
SPCA Booysens Project |
| This orphanage, run by nuns from the Catholic Church, serves to educate and care for orphans and vulnerable children in the Lenasia extension area. Don Bosco facilities include a soup kitchen, nursery school and after-school care venue. The orphanage is not supported by Government and being an orphanage with unsupported children their plight was great. Westcon was able to raise funds and food stuffs which were donated on a visit to the Orphanage. |
The Westcon Cares initiative hosted a ‘White Elephant’ sale where individuals brought in items that they no longer needed. These items, in the form of books, clothing, kitchen accessories etc were sold to staff and money raised was donated to the SPCA to assist with maintaining of their premises. |
